The Barrel and the Bell

The leaves are falling with a cool breeze settling over the valley. As you pass beneath the keystone arch, to your left, outdoor dining at the Terrace rests for the winter, transitioning our Restaurant indoors as the seasons change. Take a right instead and step inside the Boutique where a new invitation awaits. Read More

Behind the bar, an artful display of Dillon’s and Bearface spirits is nestled between potted plants and distinguished estate wines. Oculus bottles and jars of Farmstead stand proudly. Find your place at the bar and enjoy small bites alongside a drink of your choice.

Perhaps the Orchard & Thyme. Imagine walking through a pear orchard wrapped in your favourite knitted sweater. Crisp air, golden leaves, and the scent of purple thyme in bloom. This cocktail crafted with Dillon’s gin is for those who crave something delicate, yet distinctive.

Or maybe the Crimson & Maple calls to you. The kind of drink that settles deep, Bearface whisky aged in old Mission Hill Pinot Noir barrels, carrying the warmth of oak and nostalgia. It is the comfort of a leather armchair by the fire, making winter feel like home.

And for those who prefer a touch of sparkle, there is the Negroni Sbagliato, born of a happy accident. In Venice, a bartender once reached for gin but grabs bubbles instead, exclaiming “È sbagliato!” — “It’s wrong!” Yet the guest smiled, took a sip, and history was made. Our version features Exhilarat!on Brut, adding a lively effervescence.

Outside, the Mission Hill bells toll softly. Inside, laughter hums and glasses clink. Whether it’s Tony’s unmistakable laugh from behind the bar, or Joe’s knack for recalling your favourite wine, The Barrel & The Bell feels less like a visit, and more like coming home.

The Barrel and the Bell is open daily, 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM. No reservations required.
