CULINARY WORKSHOPS


With Winery Chef Matthew Batey and Terrace Restaurant Chef Riley Bennett

Mission Hill Family Estate is pleased to once again offer a series of cooking classes that will delight both the novice and the culinary connoisseur. Winery Chef Matthew Batey will lead the classes, which will be interactive as well as informative. Sharing the hosting duties will be Terrace Restaurant Chef Riley Bennett, come and enjoy their passion and skills in the kitchen. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and to sample the dishes the chefs prepare. All classes will take place in our state-of-the-art Kitchen Theatre and will be approximately three hours in length.

The schedule for the 2010 winter culinary class series includes a few "encore" performances of several favourites from last year that have been brought back by popular demand. The classes have sold out quickly, so reserve your space soon!

100 Mile Diet - Encore

Living in the Okanagan Valley, one could not be more fortunate and able to cook from within a '100 mile' area. Chef Bennett is a native of this rich agricultural area and will show you just how readily available local products are and how much better they really do taste coming from our own back yard. Come and enjoy Duck Prosciutto, Enderby Trout, Forest Mushroom Bisque, Nicola Valley Bison Flat Iron and Sugarpie Pumpkin Cake.

"Jamaica mon" and the Caribbean. Chef Riley Bennett will show the Jamaican influences from around the world as he explores all the cuisines that influence this tropical Caribbean country with; Blackened Red Snapper, Jerk Chicken, Jamaican Patties, Curried Lamb and Gizzada. Please note: some dishes may contain nuts and shellfish.

Greek - Encore

The island country of Greece has a long and varied culinary history. Join Winery Chef Matthew Batey as he takes us around the food rich country of Greece. Recipes to include Octopus with Parsley Salata, Cucumber with Feta and Mint, Fasolada, Lamb Stifado and a tasty sweet surprise.

Join Chef Riley Bennett for this class. Come and tour this south-east Asian country through food. Dishes include Chicken Sate, Green Papaya Salad (Som Tam), Tom Yam Po Taek, Gang Dang and Thai Mango Sticky Rice Pudding. Please note this class will use peanuts and shrimp.
