Oculus is Mission Hill Family Estate's signature Bordeaux-inspired wine. This elegant and complex wine represents the pinnacle of everything we do from vineyard regimen to winemaking. Selected clusters from designated blocks within our estate owned vineyards in Osoyoos and Oliver are set aside and nurtured for this wine. At the winery, the fruit undergoes fermentation and extended maceration prior to aging in new and one year old French oak barrels for 14 months or more.
This rich, deeply concentrated and powerful artisanal wine will develop additional complexity over three to five years. If opened young, it should be decanted prior to serving.
The blend for the 2004 Oculus is 74% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot.
